Jill Dennin
Region 2
My name is Jill Dennin and I have served on the school board for the past 3 years and am running for re-
election. My husband Ned and I have lived in Boyertown for 30 years and have four boys who all
attended BASD. I am running again because I believe that all students in our district deserve an equal
opportunity to an outstanding education and at the same time realize that the funding for education
comes from taxpayer dollars and it is my responsibility to make sure the money is spent in a fiscally
responsible manner. I also believe in the value of rigorous courses and extra-curricular activities in
driving student achievement and enabling all students to succeed.
I have a degree in Political Science and Public Policy and worked in State/Federal Relations for the
Governor of Connecticut. During my years at home raising four boys I was busy volunteering in the
schools and community. I was the PTO President Bear Fever Coordinator to name a few. I also worked
for 7 years as a substitute teacher in the district (I resigned as a substitute when elected to the school
board). As a substitute teacher, I saw the educational system from the student, parent, teacher and
administrative perspective. This experience fueled my passion for public education and educational
advocacy. As a current school board member, I serve on the PSBA legislative council, and represent
Boyertown on the BCIU.
Thanks to the excellent education provided in the Boyertown schools, all four of our boys attended
selective universities. Three are working in their chosen professions and my youngest is a sophomore at
Penn State. Although my children were successful at Boyertown and chose a college track, I realize that
we must provide an education for all students to be career and/or college ready including funding and
promoting the BCTC (Berks County Technical Center) and partnering with the business community. We
can always improve our educational outcomes for our students. As your school board member, I will
advocate for opportunities and improved achievement for all students while making sure that every tax
payer dollar counts.

Brandon Foose
Region 3
I am a proud father of 2 boys, husband, scientist, and wrestling coach. After graduating from Boyertown Area Senior High in 2002, I earned my Bachelor of Science from Duke University in 2006. My family of 4 moved back into the district in 2014 in time for my oldest son to begin attending kindergarten. We chose to move to Boyertown in large part because of my affection for the community and public school system.
As a Boyertown alumnus, I benefited greatly from the educational and extracurricular opportunities available to me. I was Student Council Treasurer, Student Council President, National Honors Society Vice-President, a member of the Key Club, enrolled in the gifted program, a Co-Captain and MVP of the Wrestling and Cross-Country Teams, among other activities. All of these helped me to become a well-rounded applicant to various universities and colleges. I chose to become a Duke Blue Devil, but have always remained a Boyertown Bear at heart.
I believe in comprehensive public education as a critical component to a strong community, as well as helping to foster and educate future workers and leaders of the community. Comprehensive public education means, to me: diverse course offerings to develop critical thinking (including AP, college credit, vocational, STEM); hands on learning to engage students; implementation of current and future technology to facilitate learning; an engaged and dedicated teaching staff; special education as a core principle of quality education for ALL students; arts and music; and extracurricular activities including athletics, clubs, theater, etc.
All of this is achievable with the support of the community and efficient budgeting. I aim to balance the best opportunities to prepare our students for life after high school while maintaining a keen focus on fiscal responsibility.
Please feel free to share your thoughts about how to continue the success at Boyertown, or potential improvements you hope to see. In running for School Board my purpose is to see to it that the Boyertown Area School District delivers value to the community and provides excellent opportunities to all of its students.
